State Assessment Informational Letter

Dear Parents/Guardians,
The challenges of instruction/assessment and COVID disruptions this year are well understood. For our state assessment requirements, NMPED applied for a waiver considering the impossibility of meeting the required 95 percent testing participation as required by ESSA. The state tests require that students test at the school setting and be administered in person with careful and secure monitoring. It is likely that many students may not be assessed this year due to various circumstances related to the pandemic including students who will continue to learn in a remote learning environment. The NMPED is allowing districts to make decisions with options to test with a flexibility testing model where all families and students have access to testing.
