SkillsUSA

🎉 BIG CONGRATULATIONS! 🎉

HSHS SkillsUSA is headed to NATIONALS! 🇺🇸

Anya Baray, Janean Bailey, and Cassandra Baquera will be representing our HSHS chapter at SkillsUSA Nationals June 1–5 in Atlanta! 🏆

They’ll be competing in Career Pathway: Human Services – Education & Training Services with their impactful project, “Reading Writing & Growing.” 📚✨

Through this project, they gave back to our elementary school by:
• Reading with students
• Coding with kinders 💻
• Participating in gift exchanges 🎁
• Student teaching in classrooms

Their work focused on supporting the whole student—academics, social-emotional learning, and mental health ❤️

💬 In their words:

“This community project made a meaningful impact by connecting high school students with younger learners and supporting their academic and emotional growth. It helped us develop teaching strategies, classroom management skills, and meaningful relationships with students. We learned the importance of giving back, appreciating educators, and how individual efforts can truly make a difference—all while having fun and positively engaging with our community.”

Fun Facts:
• Anya is graduating and plans to pursue teaching with a bilingual endorsement
• Janean is also a senior and plans to attend NMSU for women’s studies
• Cassie has one more year, is interning at Central Office, and plans to become an ultrasound technician

❤️💙🤍 Thank you to everyone who supports HSHS SkillsUSA! Your encouragement helps our students grow into confident leaders and chase their passions.
