HSHS Tiger track is off to a great start this season. Our results for our first meet which was hosted by 5A Gadsden High School, Saturday, Feb. 25, are right where we left off at the end of the season last year. We had five new personal records posted from 4 athletes in several events and Rodrigo Reyes and Hayli Bagwell both medaled with 3rd place finishes. Hayli in the 800m run and Rodrigo in the 1600m run. Hayli and Rodrigo also scored team points in all of their events.

Hot Springs FFA members represented HSHS in Santa Fe for FFA Day at the Roundhouse. These bright students were able to tour the beautiful Roundhouse and see the art displayed around the state capitol. Members were joined by approximately 20 other schools to become more familiar with the legislative process including committee meetings and legislative session. The group was proud to be introduced on the NM Senate Floor by Senator Crystal Diamond who introduced the memorial pertaining to FFA Day at the Roundhouse. Students represented their community well and got exposure to a process which is important to all New Mexicans. Members in attendance: Aubrie Carter, Emma Fetty, Preston Wood, Ava Harrelson-Cybulski, Bryleigh Castillo, Breanna Ryburn, Kira Shook, and Reese Diamond

Dear Parents and Guardians, This school year, I (Abigail Claesson, HSHS Art Teacher) have committed to creating a series of digital posts with easy techniques and suggestions for supporting your child(ren) as they navigate high school. According to research done at the Center on Developing Children, at Harvard University: “The single most common factor for children who develop resilience is at least one stable and committed relationship with a supportive parent, caregiver, or other adult.” Check out this research-backed method which will foster resiliency and positive study skills. Keep an eye out for future posts! - Ms. Claesson
